Stairlift FAQ

How quickly will my stairlift be installed following purchase?

We keep most models in stock in our warehouse and strive to complete all installations within two to five days of purchase, but can possibly do it faster in an emergency situation.

Can a stairlift be moved to a new house?

Yes, but the old rails may need to be cut and new rails installed, which would be an additional cost. Older models may no longer manufacture compatible rails. Our team can advise you on your best options.

What is the weight capacity of the stairlifts?

The Bruno SRE-3050 safely accommodates weights up to 300 pounds and the Bruno Elite SRE-2010 has a maximum weight capacity of 400 pounds.

Who will install and service my stairlift?

Bruno stairlifts purchased from IHS will be installed and serviced by our team of trained technicians. For the convenience and satisfaction of our clients, IHS provides fast turnaround service. Your mobility and independence is important to us. We recommend yearly maintenance for best performance. Maintenance visits are quick and we charge a standard service call fee.

Are my stairs wide enough for a stairlift?

To ensure rider comfort and safe operation of the stairlift, stairways should be a minimum of 28 inches wide. Compact lift models may only take up 12″ of the stairway area while larger models can take up more space.

My stairs are not straight. Can I still have a Bruno stairlift installed?

Yes. All of our installations are custom and can account for curved or tiered staircases, though pricing for such options may vary.

How much does a stairlift cost?

Most new economy model stairlifts are around $3,600 including installation, though pricing may vary due to a number of factors. Heavy-duty, outdoor, and custom curved lifts are pricier. We may be able to offer refurbished stairlifts directly from the dealer for a reduced cost including installation and warranty.

How do I charge the batteries?

The battery in your Bruno stairlift will charge whenever the stairlift is not in use using standard 120-volt outlets. An outlet must be within reach of the top or bottom of the rail to properly charge the battery.

What type of stairlift do you install?

We install and service Bruno electric stairlifts, which are made in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin. We have been a Bruno dealer since 2006.

Will my Bruno stairlift work in the event of a power outage?

Yes. All Bruno stairlifts are battery operated, so they will continue to function normally. A fully charged battery should last about 20 trips.

Do you offer financing for stairlift installation?

We offer financing options with OneMain Financial on purchases of new stairlifts. Click here to apply.

How does the stairlift installation process work?

Once you contact us, a member of our team will reach out to set up a walkthrough of your home so we can determine your needs. A free estimate is included with the walkthrough. After you make your decision, our team will set up an installation time and discuss ongoing maintenance options with you.

Does Medicare pay for stairlifts?

No, Medicare sees stairlifts as home modifications and will not pay for them.  They will typically pay for a hospital bed and a bedside commode if you cannot get up to your bedroom and bathroom.
